A Helpful Solution for In-Person Market Research During a Pandemic

[Originally posted on Linkedin, Summer 2020]

Hey everyone I wanted to pass along something that can help many of us, better adapt to life with Cov19 —particularly those with hearing and language difficulties.

I’ve been looking for a clear mask solution for face-to-face market research interviewing and came across this product. I reached out to Elyse Heob, Co-Founder and COO of ClearMask (based in Baltimore area) — a 2 yr old company. She kindly agreed to provide a Zoom demonstration of her FDA-approved, transparent surgical mask.

Here’s what I noted:
+ Facial/micro expressions fully visible
+ Voice volume / tone same as no mask
+ Lips/mouth not in contact with mask
+ Made with an anti-fog material
+ Side openings / exhale behind you
+ Elastic straps can be adjusted for loose/tight fit
+ Only the foam material touches the face

Bottom line - I think this could really be a life saver for people with hearing or language difficulties. And I'm definitely planning to try them for in-person research studies. Please let me know if you foresee any problems or if you have any questions… Thank you and good luck out there…
